Wakeboarding in Bangkok: Complete Taco Lake Guide [2025]
Sometimes it can be too easy to spend time inside in Bangkok. From its malls to its coffee shops, Bangkok is all about escaping the heat — by chasing the A/C.
But what about another way to cool down in Bangkok — a way that gets you active and outdoors without making you break a sweat? Why not give wakeboarding a try for your next Bangkok adventure?
If you’re looking for a place to wakeboard in Bangkok, Taco Lake is the spot. It’s the perfect place to learn to wakeboard (or hone your skills), with everything from kneeboards to ramps available.
Let’s break down everything you need to know about planning a trip to this unique place in Bangkok, where you can hit the water without ever leaving the city!
What to Expect Wakeboarding at Taco Lake
Typically, wakeboarding involves being pulled behind a boat, but it’s a little different at a wake park like Taco Lake. Taco Lake operates using a cable system that is always going, so there’s no boats in the water but you can get wakeboarding practice as if there were by using the cable system.
Taco Lake is Thailand’s first cable wake park, which is pretty cool, and it’s quite close to Bangkok… in fact, it’s not far from BKK airport!
Taco Lake is perfect for beginners, since they offer beginner-friendly kneeboards and basic boards with neoprene straps if you aren’t ready for the heavy-duty wakeboard and boots. It was my first time wakeboarding when I went and while I struggled to stand up, that’s more of an internal balance issue and not being very adept at board sports.
For more experienced wakeboarders, there are ramps and rails where you can play around and level up your skills if you’re feeling like becoming more of a pro!
The cables take you around in a circle — and navigating those turns, which come fast and hard — is a challenge in and of itself!
Note that they will only take you around the lake five times before asking that you dismount so that other rides can have a chance.
As for the setting, yes, it’s a real outdoor lake! It’s surrounded by lush trees, making it a peaceful escape from Bangkok’s endless hustle and bustle. Even if you’re not wakeboarding, it’s still a great spot to relax, eat, drink, swim, or stand-up paddleboard!
And if some of your group wants to wakeboard while others prefer to chill, no worries—only the riders need to pay, and they’ll get a wristband that allows them to ride and use the wakeboards, while those without can just enjoy the scenery!
How to Get to Taco Lake
Taco Lake is not very far from Bangkok, close to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in fact. There’s no public transit that will bring you all the way there, though, so you’ll want to call a Grab or a taxi.
If you want to minimize the distance traveled by Grab/taxi, you could take the BTS (Sukhumvit Green line) to Bang Na and call a taxi there. This is what I did with my group of friends and a taxi was approximately 200 baht each way (~$6 USD).
Taco Lake Amenities
In addition to all the wakeboarding essentials, Taco Lake also has the following facilities to make it the perfect place for a full day out
- Restrooms including showers and changing rooms
- Plenty of seating areas in the shade with tables for relaxing, working, etc.
- A surprisingly affordable and tasty restaurant with dishes priced around 60-90 baht (~$2-3 USD) per dish

Single Day Ticket
Arrive before 6 PM and your ticket is just 400 baht — that’s about $12 USD and that includes all you need for your basic wakeboard experience.
Pretty good, right, for a full day of fun? And if you decide you want to ride into the night, you can just add 100 baht to convert your day pass into a night ticket and keep going after the sun sets.
Single Night Ticket
Planning to arrive after 6 PM, or if you plan to arrive later in the afternoon and know that you’ll keep on riding after 6 PM comes and goes?
Grab a night ticket for 500 baht and enjoy the cool night air, the atmospheric lights, the epic sunset colors on the lake, and all the fun until 10 PM!
What’s Included in Your Ticket
Every ticket, day or night, comes with the following basics:
- Life vest
- Helmet
- Basic board (either a kneeboard or beginner board)
Note: You can’t hit the ramp with the basic boards. If you’re looking to launch off the ramps, you’ll need your own wakeboard — the proper kind, with boots that you lock in, as opposed to the basic ones which use neoprene foot loops.
While you can bring your own board and boots, most people don’t have their own. But renting is affordable if you don’t have your own gear. It’s only 300 baht for a day’s worth of rental, plus a 100 baht deposit which will be returned after you bring back your gear.
Another Note: There are no towels available to rent, so bring your own from home! You’ll also want to bring your own bathing suit as well as a fresh change of clothes for afterwards.

- Hours: Monday to Sunday, noon to 10 PM
Pro Tip: Taco Lake sometimes closes randomly, especially on the weekdays — and it’s a far way out from central Bangkok! — so check their Instagram before you go or send them a quick DM to make sure. You don’t want to make the trek just to find the gates closed.
Another Pro Tip: Saturdays and Sundays are a lot busier, so go on a weekday if you can if you want to wait in fewer lines and spend more time on (or in!) the water!
